"Since my first CranioSacral session with Rebecca, I have not had any of the lower back discomfort that was keeping me up at night, and radiating nerve pain down my leg has not reappeared! My neck and shoulders relaxed some too and did not ache as much as usual from stress and tension. Plus, my lower jaw found out what it is like to be totally relaxed! I could actually feel it give way to tension. I could not believe how relaxed I felt after the session. Rebecca's touch is so gentle. I am sold on CranioSacral Therapy." -Sharon S., Anacortes, WA
CranioSacral Therapy (CST) was developed by osteopathic physician John Upledger in the mid-70′s. It’s a gentle hands-on modality for evaluating and enhancing the functioning of the craniosacral system. The craniosacral system consists of cerebrospinal fluid and membranes that protect and surround the brain and spinal cord.
During a session, the client is typically fully clothed and lying on one’s back on a massage table. However, CranioSacral can be received in other positions, even sitting or standing. The touch used is soft and usually no more than 5 grams worth of pressure, which is approximately the weight of a nickel. During a CranioSacral session, SomatoEmotional Release (SER) may occur spontaneously.
This gentle method of releasing restrictions improves the functioning of the central nervous system, facilitates clients’ healing in general, and also is specifically helpful for ailments including, but not limited to, the following:
Chronic Neck and Back Pain
Central Nervous System Disorders
Traumatic Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries
Neurovascular or Immune Disorders
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
Post-Surgical Dysfunction releases
Stress and Tension-Related Problems
Specific and General Energetic Blockages
Fibromyalgia and other Connective-Tissue Disorders
Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome (TMJ)
As noted above, SomatoEmotional Release may occur during the session. Click here to read more about SER. And contact mewith any questions
